SIARDAILY, Penajam Paser Utara – Bendungan Sepaku Semoi di Kecamatan Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, Provinsi Kalimantan Timur, mulai dilakukan pengisian awal (impounding). Pembangunan Bendungan Sepaku Semoi berfungsi untuk penyediaan air baku di kawasan IKN Nusantara, dengan kapasitas sebesar 2.000 liter/detik dan untuk Balikpapan sebesar 500 liter/detik.
“Dengan adanya Bendungan Sepaku Semoi penyediaan air baku IKN masih cukup hingga 2030. Ke depan, kita juga akan tambah dengan membangun Bendungan Batu Lepek dan Bendungan Selamayu,” kata Menteri Pekerjaan Umum dan Perumahan Rakyat (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Kamis 21 September 2023).

Direktur Jenderal Sumber Daya Air, Bob Arthur Lombogia menambahkan, selain berfungsi untuk penyediaan air baku, Bendungan Sepaku Semoi juga memiliki kemampuan reduksi banjir hingga 232 meter kubik (m3)/ detik atau sebesar 55 persen untuk Kawasan IKN dan Kecamatan Sepaku.
“Bukan hanya berfungsi untuk layanan air baku IKN, Bendungan Sepaku Semoi juga berfungsi untuk pengendalian banjir. Karena, kadang-kadang terjadi banjir di daerah hilir,” tambah Bob.
Hingga saat ini, progress fisik pembangunan Bendungan Sepaku Semoi sudah mencapai 97 persen. Dengan lingkup pekerjaan utama meliputi pembangunan main dam, kantor Unit Pengelola Bendungan (UPB), Gardu Pandang dan Gerbang Utama.
“Memang masih tersisa tiga persen pekerjaan untuk finishing, namun sesuai rekomendasi dari KKB (Komisi Keamanan Bendungan), Bendungan Sepaku Semoi sudah dapat dilakukan pengisian awal atau impounding karena sudah memenuhi persyaratan,” jelas Bob.
Bob menambahkan, Bendungan Sepaku Semoi diharapkan dapat selesai pada Desember 2023. Namun, proses pengisian bendungan sudah berjalan sejak pelaksanaan impounding dengan debit awal yang dialirkan sebesar 100 liter/detik.
“Menanggapi tantangan cuaca, memang sempat terjadi penyusutan. Namun, sekarang sudah konstan 100 liter/detik. Untuk itu, Menteri Basuki menjelaskan juga kepada Presiden bahwa 100 liter/detik tersebut cukup untuk pengisian bendungan hingga tiga bulan ke depan sampai Desember 2023. Baru setelahnya dapat mencapai elevasi normal atau elevasi mercu spillway dari bendungan ini,” tutur Bob.(asp)
